At the Honduran-Nicaragua border, early in the morning I pull in behind a Canadian also riding a F650 Dakar. We did the border crossing shuffle out of Honduras and into Nicaragua without too much hassle and then road together to Granada.

Granada was a pleasant surprise after a long day of driving through the wasteland which is the Nicarguan countryside. Very sad. Granada was a different story and it show what Nicaragua could be if they got their act together.

Even here there is much work that still needs to be done, but it is great place to relax in a town that still has an authentic air.

Outside the main square most of the building have yet to be repaired from years of warfare.

I found a cheap hotel with good food and a friendly staff called Hospedaje Central. (My bike is in the back inside the courtyard.)

I stayed in Granada for a couple of days not doing much of anything other than listen to conspiracy theories from middle aged ex-hippies. It was then back on the road for Costa Rica.

I stopped in Rivas before the border and had a look at Lake Nicaragua. There are supposed to be some great riding roads on the island but I never got over to visit.
